Welcome! My name is Amanda Ashmead and I am so excited that we have the chance to spend the week together talking about the best course in the world--AP English Language. I’ve taught this course for over 20 years, and it remains my favoriete--an exciting, ever changing challenge.
This week we will strive to balance three things:
The conceptual framework of the course--what is the vision?
The pedogogy of the course--what are the best practices for this course?
The exam--how can students convey their understanding of the skills we learn?
We will start Monday with a brief survey where you can let me know a little bit about who your are, the context of your teaching challenges, and any specific topics and skills you’d like to cover. My main goal is for everyone to leave Thursday feeling prepared and excited to start the new year.
